Erik Sayles, MD, DMD is originally from Northern New Jersey, where he received his undergraduate degree Magna Cum Laude in Biology from Montclair State University.
He was accepted into dental school at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey where he graduated with honors at the top of his class. Following dental school, he was accepted into the Drexel University Oral and Maxillofacial surgery residency program at Hahnemann Medical Center, and Saint Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia. This program is a six-year, integrated dual degree program. During this time, he was admitted with advanced standing to the Drexel University College of Medicine, where he received his medical degree.
During his residency, Dr. Sayles completed rotations in general surgery, vascular surgery, transplant surgery and plastic surgery, in addition to several months in the surgical/trauma Intensive Care Unit. He served as Chief Resident of Oral and Maxillofacial during his last year of training at Hahnemann Medical Center and St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia.
Dr. Sayles’ surgical training includes a wide variety of Oral and Maxillofacial surgical procedures. Removal of wisdom teeth, dental and facial implants, oral and facial trauma, reconstructive jaw surgery, sedation and general anesthesia, and oral and facial pathology are among his professional interests.
Dr. Sayles belongs to a number of professional organizations, including the American Dental Association, American Medical Association, American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Pennsylvania Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Pennsylvania Dental Association, Delaware Valley Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and the Montgomery-Bucks County Dental Society.
He resides in historic Montgomery County, PA in suburban Philadelphia, where he enjoys biking and classical piano. Dr. Sayles has also held New Jersey state as well as national titles in powerlifting.
