P. Michael Schelkun, M.D., D.D.S.Warminster PA Oral Surgeon Dr. P. Michael Schelkun

P. Michael "Mike" Schelkun, MD, DDS was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. His interest in the health care profession began within his family, many members of which are professionals in dentistry, medicine and nursing. His father, who retired after many years of successful practice as a general dentist, is now an associate professor at Marquette University School of Dentistry; his mother is a retired nurse.

Dr. Schelkun attended the University of Wisconsin and was admitted to the Marquette University School of Dentistry’s early acceptance program during his senior year. His interest in the specialty practice of oral and maxillofacial surgery took shape in dental school. Dr. Schelkun graduated with honors from Marquette at the top of his class in 1983.

He completed a four-year residency program in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University of Missouri-Kansas City/Truman Medical Center, one of the nation’s most highly regarded training programs in this specialty. During his fourth year of training, Dr. Schelkun was named chief resident. Upon completion of the program, he became an attending surgeon at Truman Medical Center. It was during this time that he recognized the necessity of obtaining a medical degree in order to round out his specialty training.

Dr. Schelkun was awarded advanced standing placement into the University of Alabama School of Medicine. Again, he graduated with honors at the top of his class. He then completed a year of general surgery at the Rush-Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago. This program of study included extended rotations in plastic and reconstructive surgery, craniofacial surgery, and otorhinolaryngology (ENT).

Dr. Schelkun entered private practice in Bucks County, Pennsylvania in 1991. His main interests within his specialty are facial reconstructive surgery, dental implant surgery, cosmetic surgery, the removal of impacted wisdom teeth, and anesthesia. As a select faculty member of the AO/ASIF (Society for the Advancement of the Study of Internal Fixation), Dr. Schelkun is an internationally recognized authority in facial and reconstructive surgery. He is the past president of the Montgomery-Bucks Dental Society and the past president of his regional specialty society, the Delaware Valley Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He has lectured throughout the country and has authored many articles in his field.

Dr. Schelkun is also a devoted family man who enjoys spending recreational time with his wife, Patrice, and their four children. Together with his family, Dr. Schelkun is active in Church and sporting activities. He especially enjoys water and snow skiing, boating, fishing, golf and shooting sports.
